Permanent Organising Committee of Web Summit Qatar meets

The Government Communications Office (GCO) Director, H E Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani recently chaired a meeting of the Web Summit Qatar Permanent Organising Committee to discuss Qatar’s upcoming participation in Web Summit Lisbon and preparations for Web Summit Qatar 2025. The committee comprises representatives from various government ministries and entities, working together to ensure the success of Qatar’s involvement in the global tech event. Qatar has a five-year agreement to host Web Summit through 2028 and has already seen success in its first edition, solidifying the country’s position as a leader in technology and innovation within the region.

Sheikh Jassim highlighted the importance of collaboration with stakeholders from both the public and private sectors in shaping an integrated tech ecosystem that aligns with Qatar’s ambitious vision. Qatar’s strong presence at Web Summit Lisbon 2024 showcases the country’s emerging talent and industry leaders on a global stage. The pavilion at the event will showcase Qatar’s evolving tech landscape, attractive business environment, and promote the upcoming 2025 edition of Web Summit Qatar.

Several key local entities will have representatives speaking at the event, including Invest Qatar, Qatar Development Bank, and Qatar Investment Authority. The event will also unveil finalists of the Startup Qatar Investment Program launched during Web Summit Qatar 2024. Web Summit Qatar 2025 has already seen a significant increase in demand for general attendee ticket sales, with a fourfold increase compared to the previous year. Startup programme sales have grown by 500 percent, and country delegations are set to expand by 30 percent year-over-year, with participation confirmed by various countries including Germany, Hong Kong, India, Spain, and others.

The success of Web Summit Qatar’s first edition has positioned Qatar at the forefront of the region’s technology and innovation landscape. The ongoing collaboration with stakeholders across Qatar’s public and private sectors is essential in preparing for the next edition and creating a cycle of innovation and growth. Qatar’s participation in Web Summit Lisbon 2024 highlights the country’s commitment to showcasing its tech ecosystem and industry leaders on an international platform. Qatar’s engagements at the event will not only promote its upcoming 2025 edition but also highlight the country’s attractive business environment and emerging talent in the tech sector.

The increased demand for tickets and participation in Web Summit Qatar 2025 demonstrates the growing interest and excitement surrounding the event. With a significant increase in general attendee ticket sales and a growing number of country delegations confirmed to participate, Qatar is poised to make a strong impression at Web Summit 2025. The success of past editions and the continued collaboration between government entities and private sectors will play a crucial role in shaping an integrated tech ecosystem that aligns with Qatar’s ambitious vision for the future.
