The Sultanate of Oman recently participated in the Brunei Darussalam Book Fair in Bandar Seri Begawan, with the aim of strengthening cultural ties with Brunei and celebrating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The event, which was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Information, highlighted the commitment to developing sustainable cooperation, particularly in the field of culture. The manuscripts’ wing in Oman’s pavilion attracted a large number of visitors, showcasing rare manuscripts that exemplify the country’s rich cultural history and intellectual contributions.

One of the key highlights of the event were the interactive workshops that focused on the art of Arabic calligraphy. These workshops provided visitors with the opportunity to learn about the intricacies of ancient writing and related arts, reflecting Oman’s dedication to preserving and passing on cultural heritage to future generations. The workshops were well-received by attendees and served as a valuable platform for promoting cultural exchange and knowledge sharing between Oman and Brunei.

In addition to the workshops and manuscript exhibition, the Brunei Darussalam Book Fair also featured a range of cultural activities and events that showcased the diversity and richness of Omani culture. These activities included traditional music and dance performances, storytelling sessions, and exhibitions of Omani handicrafts and artifacts. Through these displays, Oman was able to showcase its unique cultural identity and traditions to a wider audience in Brunei.

The participation of Oman in the book fair not only served to promote cultural exchange and understanding between the two countries but also contributed to the broader goal of fostering regional cooperation and collaboration in the fields of culture and heritage preservation. By highlighting Oman’s cultural heritage and intellectual contributions, the event underscored the importance of preserving and promoting cultural diversity in an increasingly interconnected world.

Overall, Oman’s participation in the Brunei Darussalam Book Fair was a resounding success, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and intellectual tradition of the Sultanate to a diverse audience in Brunei. The event served as a valuable platform for promoting cultural exchange, knowledge sharing, and collaboration between Oman and Brunei, reinforcing the strong cultural ties between the two countries. With a focus on preserving and passing on cultural heritage to future generations, Oman’s presence at the book fair underscored the country’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity and understanding in the region.
