OQ Gas Networks SAOG (OQGN) is set to inaugurate the ‘Saib Project’, a new 208 km gas pipeline in Dhofar Governorate on August 26. The project aims to increase the gas network’s capacity in Dhofar Governorate by 60% from 10 to 16 million cubic metres per day to keep pace with population increase, urban development, and economic growth. The inauguration ceremony will be held under the patronage of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, along with government officials, community leaders, OQGN Board of Directors, and key stakeholders and contractors.

The project consists of two loops: Loop 1 – 32 KM at Hubara in the wilayat of Haima and Loop 2 – 175 KM from Harweel to Raysut station in Salalah. The total of 208 km of 32-inch pipeline will run alongside the existing 24-inch pipeline. This strategic growth project by OQGN is a significant step towards meeting the growing demand for natural gas in Dhofar Governorate, ensuring a reliable and sustainable gas supply for the region’s development needs. The increase in the gas network’s capacity will play a vital role in supporting economic growth and development.

The ‘Saib Project’ inauguration highlights OQGN’s commitment to the development and expansion of Oman’s Natural Gas Transmission Network to meet the energy needs of the growing population and urbanization in Dhofar Governorate. The project will contribute to the region’s economic development by providing a reliable source of natural gas, which is essential for various industries and residential use. The enhanced gas network’s capacity will also support the government’s efforts to promote sustainable energy solutions and reduce dependency on other fuel sources.

The strategic location of the new gas pipeline in Dhofar Governorate will facilitate the transportation of natural gas to industries, residential areas, and commercial establishments, thereby fueling economic growth and development in the region. The increased capacity of the gas network will also enable the region to attract new investments and businesses, creating job opportunities and contributing to the overall prosperity of Dhofar Governorate. The project will further enhance Oman’s energy security and help meet the growing energy demand in the region.

The ‘Saib Project’ inauguration is a significant milestone for OQ Gas Networks SAOG and a testament to the company’s commitment to enhancing Oman’s energy infrastructure. The new gas pipeline will play a crucial role in supporting the economic growth and development of Dhofar Governorate, ensuring a reliable and sustainable source of natural gas for the region’s energy needs. The project underscores OQGN’s dedication to meeting the evolving challenges of the energy sector and contributing to Oman’s vision for a sustainable and prosperous future.
