National Zero Neutrality Programme launches phase 3 package of projects and initiatives.

muscat: The National Zero Neutrality Programme (NET ZERO) has launched a new package of projects and initiatives called “Neutrality 3” in order to achieve the 2030 targets set in the “National Strategy for an Orderly Transition to Zero Neutrality”. The launch event was attended by Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Chairman of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit. Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, mentioned that the projects focus on reducing carbon emissions in sectors such as energy, industry, transport, and buildings.

Dr. Maryam Mohammed Al Busaidi, Head of the National Zero Neutrality Programme, presented the developments and achievements of the programme, highlighting the 212 projects and initiatives included in the “Neutrality 3” package. The projects aim to expand into new sectors and fields, with a focus on improving energy efficiency and promoting the use of electric vehicles in the industrial sector. Additionally, new projects in biofuels and afforestation will be added to further reduce carbon emissions.

The “Neutrality 3” package also includes the participation of military and security units, with initiatives and projects covering various sectors such as transport, gas, industry, cities and buildings, education, agriculture, governorates, and military and security units. In the oil and gas sector, projects related to carbon capture, electrification of operations, and gas recycling have been introduced. The electricity sector will see 28 new projects, while the transport sector will have 36 projects focusing on sustainable transportation methods.

Projects in the cities and buildings sector will aim to create sustainable green cities with infrastructure for renewable energy. The environment and economy sector will have 15 projects, while the military and security services sector will see 21 projects. The education sector received a total of 14 projects as part of the initiative. Overall, the “Neutrality 3” package of projects and initiatives is designed to help Oman move towards zero carbon emissions and achieve its goals for a sustainable future by 2030.

In conclusion, the National Zero Neutrality Programme’s “Neutrality 3” package of projects and initiatives is a significant step towards achieving Oman’s targets for zero carbon emissions by 2030. With a focus on expanding into new sectors and fields, the programme aims to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility across various industries. Through collaboration with military and security units, as well as advancements in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, Oman is making strides towards a greener and more sustainable future.
