Officials recently gathered at a seminar organized by the Social Development Center (Nama) in celebration of International Youth Day, focusing on financial culture. The event, held under the patronage of Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, aimed at enhancing financial awareness among Qatari youth through the ‘Aazim’ project. Nama, a center under the Ministry of Social Development and Family’s Qatar Foundation for Social Work, brought together experts to discuss consumption culture, savings, and investment.

The first session of the seminar explored consumption culture in Islamic Law and Behavioral Psychology. Preacher Shaker Al Shahwani from the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs highlighted the Islamic perspective on consumption, while Dr. Khalid Al Nama from the Doha International Family Institute discussed the impact of psychological marketing on consumption behaviors. The session focused on the ethical principles underlying consumption and strategies to reduce the negative impact of marketing, emphasizing the importance of balancing profit with social responsibility.

The second session delved into financial intelligence, specifically savings and investment. Professor Mahfoodh Al Saadi from Qatar University’s College of Business and Economics discussed the concept of saving, historical practices, and their relevance in today’s world. He also explored the link between savings and financial security. Meanwhile, Professor Hitmi Al Hitmi discussed the principles and types of investments, as well as the development of an investor mindset and common mistakes to avoid. Both sessions provided participants with valuable insights on financial planning and decision-making.

Talal Al Emadi, director of the technical office at MSDF, highlighted the objectives of the ‘Aazim’ project, which aims to guide Qatari youth towards making responsible financial decisions. The project seeks to equip young individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to build a stable financial future for themselves and their families. By promoting financial awareness and responsible saving and investing, the initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030’s goal of creating a sustainable and financially aware society.

The seminar was part of Aazim’s strategic efforts to emphasize the importance of optimal financial planning for Qatari families and youth. By raising community awareness on the significance of balancing consumption, saving, and investing, the project aims to prevent individuals from falling into debt while pursuing luxuries. The event provided a platform for experts to share their expertise and insights on financial culture, contributing to a more financially literate society in Qatar. Overall, the seminar was a valuable opportunity for participants to enhance their financial awareness and make informed decisions about their financial future.

In conclusion, the seminar organized by Nama served as an important platform for discussing financial culture, consumption, saving, and investment. With the participation of experts from various fields, the event provided valuable insights and strategies for enhancing financial awareness among Qatari youth. Through the ‘Aazim’ project, participants were equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to make sustainable financial decisions and build a stable financial future. By promoting responsible saving and investing, the initiative contributes to fulfilling Qatar National Vision 2030’s goal of creating a financially aware society. The seminar underscored the importance of optimal financial planning and the significance of balancing consumption, saving, and investing to achieve long-term financial stability.
