Ministry of Education and Higher Education Holds First Orientation Meeting for Scholarship Students

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education recently organized an orientation meeting for scholarship students who will be studying at Education City Universities, United States Universities, and Canada for the academic year 2024-25. The primary goal of the meeting was to familiarize students with their academic requirements during the scholarship period. Acting Director of the Scholarships Department, Noura Al Ansari, delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of the introductory meeting in establishing communication with scholarship students and providing them with the necessary support. She highlighted that the success of the students is a reflection of the Ministry’s success, and encouraged students to equip themselves with knowledge to contribute to Qatar’s vision for 2030.

During the meeting, Head of Public Affairs at the United States Embassy in Qatar, Ivan David, provided a detailed overview of studying in America, adapting to university life, and the support services available to students. He also shared essential tips and best practices that students can follow throughout their scholarship period. Salama Al Kuwari from the Scholarships Department discussed the procedures required to activate the scholarship, such as reading and signing the scholarship contract, obtaining a financial guarantee from the mission official, verifying the university registration number, preparing the student visa, and submitting the necessary documents to the embassy.

Aisha Al Mohannadi, Senior Scholarship Expert at the Government Scholarship Program in Education City, presented on the financial privileges of the Internal and External Scholarship Program, along with its financial regulations. The meeting also featured a panel discussion with Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs, Dr. Harib Mohamed Al Jabri, and Mission Officer Hessa Rashid. Dr. Al Jabri shared valuable advice with scholarship students, emphasizing the importance of understanding the scholarship conditions and laws associated with it. He encouraged students to ask any inquiries related to the scholarship and emphasized the importance of academic excellence based on his own personal experiences.

Overall, the orientation meeting for scholarship students at Education City Universities and universities in the United States and Canada for the academic year 2024-25 aimed to prepare students for their academic journey during the scholarship period. The event provided valuable insights into studying abroad, adapting to university life, and accessing necessary support services. The speakers at the meeting emphasized the importance of academic excellence, understanding scholarship conditions, and following financial regulations. Students were encouraged to arm themselves with knowledge to serve their country and contribute to the development goals of Qatar for 2030. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education remains committed to supporting scholarship students and ensuring their success throughout their academic endeavors.
