Doha, Qatar is taking steps to solidify its position as a regional logistics hub, with Mwani Qatar collaborating with various entities to organize a seminar on “Facilitating the Entry and Exit of Transit Shipments Through Land Border.” The seminar aimed to showcase the simplified procedures and exclusive benefits available for transshipment cargo at Hamad Port, enabling efficient transportation of goods to neighboring countries. Representatives from shipping agencies and companies in the maritime transport sector attended the event to learn about the advantages of using Hamad Port as a transit gateway.

The seminar began with a welcome speech and a presentation outlining the objectives and simplified protocols applied to transshipment goods at Hamad Port. These protocols include streamlined customs procedures and enhanced handling operations to reduce costs and improve efficiency for companies using the port for transit shipments. Hamad Port offers competitive advantages such as reduced tariffs, free storage, lower customs fees, and efficient vessel and yard operations, making it an attractive option for businesses looking to transport goods to nearby countries.

Hamad Port boasts fast truck transit procedures and an advanced electronic infrastructure, with features like automated gates, a platform for scheduling truck appointments, and electronic payment facilities through the Port Community System, “MWANINA”. This system connects all parties operating within the port, ensuring a smooth workflow and providing essential support at every stage of the shipment journey until it reaches its final destination via the land border. These technological advancements make the transportation process seamless and efficient for businesses utilizing the port for their logistics needs.

The seminar concluded with a Q&A session where participants discussed the advantages of using Hamad Port as a regional transit gateway, aligning with Qatar’s strategic vision to position itself as a vibrant commercial center. During the first nine months of 2024, Hamad Port handled over 1.067 million TEUs, with 49% being transit containers. The port also managed over 1.15 million tons of general and bulk cargo, 89,000 units of RORO (roll-on/roll-off) cargo, around 20,000 livestock heads, and a total of 1,129 ships. These figures highlight the port’s significant role in facilitating trade and enhancing connectivity in the region.

In conclusion, the seminar organized by Mwani Qatar and its partners highlighted the benefits of using Hamad Port as a transit gateway for businesses involved in the maritime transport sector. The simplified procedures, competitive advantages, and advanced technological infrastructure offered by the port make it an attractive option for companies looking to transport goods efficiently and cost-effectively to neighboring countries. With its strategic location and commitment to innovation, Hamad Port plays a crucial role in strengthening Qatar’s position as a regional logistics hub and a key player in the global trade network.
