Historic referendum characterized by large turnout

Qatari citizens showed marked enthusiasm during the referendum held to vote on the draft constitutional amendments of 2024. Men and women gathered at 28 voting venues to cast their votes through electronic and paper voting systems. The efforts of the Ministry of Interior and the General Referendum Committee were appreciated for providing smooth conduct of the referendum process and facilities to the voters. The citizens considered participating in the referendum as a national duty in response to the call of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The importance of the referendum on the draft constitutional amendments was acknowledged as serving the interests of the Qatari people and the country.

Voters expressed their enthusiasm in participating in the historic event and lauded the multiple options provided by the General Referendum Committee for the referendum process. The availability of 28 centers for paper and electronic voting, as well as the use of Metrash2 for facilitation, were commended by the citizens. The referendum was considered essential for embodying solidarity between the people of Qatar and their leader, emphasizing national unity, social cohesion, and adherence to enduring national principles. With citizens aged 18 years and above exercising their right to vote, the referendum aimed at proposing constitutional amendments for 2024 to the permanent constitution of the State of Qatar.

Various venues such as the Lagoona Mall and the Cultural Village Katara witnessed impressive turnout with citizens participating in the voting process without any problems. Voters expressed satisfaction with the voting experience, the importance of their vote, and the changes being proposed by H H the Amir. Special arrangements were made for people with special needs and the elderly at all the voting locations to ensure their participation. The smooth conduct of the referendum process was praised, and it was believed that the amendments to the constitutional articles would contribute to the development and unity of Qatar under the wise leadership.

Participants in the referendum highlighted the significance of their vote in shaping Qatar’s future and contributing to the development process. The support for constitutional amendments was reiterated by voters, who recognized the need for amendments to strengthen societal cohesion, protect rights, and promote national unity. The wise leadership’s decision to make amendments according to the needs of the country and society was appreciated, as citizens saw their participation in public affairs as essential for the progress and prosperity of Qatar. The turnout of voters reflected a high level of awareness among citizens regarding the country’s plans and the importance of their role in shaping the future of Qatar.
