Cooperative general meetings scheduled across Kuwait in June and July

The Ministry of Social Affairs has approved dates for a series of cooperative general meetings after several societies completed and submitted their financial year reports, according to local newspaper Al-Anba. Ministry officials, represented by the sector for financial, administrative and cooperative affairs under Dr. Sayed Issa, confirmed the meetings will take place in June and July for associations that finalized their financial statements.

The move follows routine clearance procedures by the Ministry of Social Affairs and signals continued oversight of Kuwait cooperatives. Additionally, the ministry said it will announce further meeting dates as each cooperative closes its financial year and forwards documentation for review.

Cooperative general meetings schedule and locations

Below are the dates and venues for the general assemblies that have been approved so far, according to the ministry statement reported by Al-Anba. Members are advised to check with their cooperative offices for participation requirements and verification procedures.

1. Jaber Al-Ahmad City Cooperative Society will hold its general assembly on June 25 at the Community Development Center in Al-Qurain.

2. Naseem Cooperative Society will convene its general assembly on June 28 at the Saad Al-Abdullah Community Center in Al-Jahra Governorate.

3. Farwaniya Cooperative Society will meet on June 29 at the Ardiya Community Development Center, Plot 8, Road 59 in Ardiya.

4. Al-Salam Cooperative Society has scheduled its general assembly for July 1 at the Bayan Community Development Center.

5. Salwa Cooperative Society will hold its meeting on July 5 at the Bayan Community Development Center, Plot 7.

6. Salibkhat and Doha Cooperative Society will convene on June 14 at the Al-Qurain Center.

7. The Sadu Handicraft Cooperative Society is set to hold its assembly on June 15 at the Al-Qurain Center.

8. Dasma and Bneid Al-Qar Cooperative Society will meet on June 16 at the Al-Qurain Center.

9. Union Consumer Cooperative Society will hold its general assembly on June 17 at the Bayan Center.

10. An-Naeem Cooperative Society is scheduled for June 21 at the Saad Al-Abdullah Center.

11. Savings Cooperative Society will convene on June 22 at the Bayan Center.

12. Northwest Salibkhat Cooperative Society plans its assembly on June 23 at the Al-Qurain Center.

13. Abdali Agricultural Cooperative Society will meet on June 24 at the Saad Al-Abdullah Community Development Hall, Plot 2, adjacent to the Saad Al-Abdullah City Cooperative premises.

Profit distribution rules and financial criteria

The ministry reiterated that profit distribution to members remains conditional on a cooperative actually making profits and demonstrating strong financial standing. Officials said profit payouts are capped at a maximum of 12 percent of total purchase balances, emphasizing that distributions depend on the cooperative’s liquidity and overall balance-sheet strength.

Therefore, cooperatives with high solvency and stable financial positions are more likely to authorize shareholder payouts. The Ministry of Social Affairs clarified that these measures are intended to protect members’ interests and ensure long-term sustainability across Kuwait cooperatives.

Why these meetings matter for members and governance

General assemblies serve as the primary governance forum where members review audited financial statements, vote on profit distribution, and elect boards or approve key policy changes. Furthermore, the meetings allow members to question management and seek clarity on operational performance and strategic priorities.

According to the sector supervising financial and administrative cooperation, timely general meetings and transparent reporting support better oversight and align cooperative activities with regulatory expectations. In addition, the announcement process helps standardize procedures and provides certainty about timelines for member participation.

What members should expect and next steps

Members planning to attend should verify eligibility, bring identification, and follow any registration or proxy procedures set by their cooperative. Meanwhile, cooperatives are expected to publish final financial reports and agenda items ahead of assemblies so members can make informed decisions.

The ministry indicated it will continue to authorize and publicize additional cooperative general meetings as societies complete and submit their financial year documents. Observers and members should watch for further announcements from the Ministry of Social Affairs and individual cooperatives in the coming weeks.

Outlook and follow-up

These scheduled cooperative general meetings mark the next step in the annual governance cycle for many societies across Kuwait. Going forward, stakeholders should monitor whether proposed profit distributions adhere to the stated ceiling and reflect each society’s fiscal health.

Finally, the ministry’s ongoing verification of financial reports and staggered approvals suggest a methodical approach to oversight. Members and analysts alike will be watching the outcomes of these assemblies for indications about cooperative sector performance and any emerging governance trends.
