During the Khareef season, tourists enjoy a one-of-a-kind dining experience in Dhofar.

Muscat: Experience the unique dining tradition of ‘Al-Madhbi’ in the Dhofar Governorate during the Khareef season. This traditional Omani dish is grilled on hot stones, giving it a distinctive flavor, and is served with rice or traditional bread. Other popular dishes in the region include Mishakeek, Maqadeed, Mafoor, Maghmi, Qasabiya, Maajin, porridge, as well as chicken and fish dishes. During the Khareef season, ‘Al-Madhbi’ kiosks can be found throughout Dhofar Governorate, offering fresh food and a cultural experience for tourists.

These kiosks give visitors the chance to witness the preparation of ‘Al-Madhbi’ meat on hot stones, while enjoying the delicious aroma that fills the air. The comfortable atmosphere allows visitors to sit and savor their meal in the open air, surrounded by the beautiful autumn scenery. Al-Madhbi and meat kiosks are an essential part of the Khareef season experience, offering a glimpse into authentic Omani flavors amidst the natural beauty of Dhofar Governorate.

Mahad bin Ahmed Jaboub, owner of Bin “Sobar” Restaurant, established the restaurant with the aim of providing traditional Omani meals to both locals and tourists throughout the year. The menu at the restaurant includes a variety of dishes such as Madhbi, Maqadeed, Ma’ajeen, Mafour, Qasabiya, Mishakeek, and various types of rice. Visitors can watch as their meat and chicken dishes are grilled in the traditional way, adding to the cultural experience of dining in Dhofar Governorate.

Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Shahari, owner of Wadi “Dhirut” restaurant, also offers a wide range of traditional Omani dishes that are popular among both locals and visitors. The restaurant specializes in serving Al-Madhbi with various types of meat and chicken, as well as rice dishes such as Mandi, Makbous, and spiced types. The traditional preparation methods add to the authenticity of the dining experience, making it a memorable and unique culinary adventure for visitors.

Overall, dining at Al-Madhbi and meat kiosks in Dhofar Governorate during the Khareef season is more than just a meal – it is an opportunity to immerse oneself in Omani culture and tradition. The combination of delicious food, beautiful scenery, and traditional preparation methods creates an unforgettable experience for tourists.
