Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Waleed Al-Khereiji, recently emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating terrorism in all its forms. He stressed the need for collective action to achieve security, stability, development, and prosperity. Al-Khereiji highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to counter-terrorism efforts at both national and international levels, mentioning the Kingdom’s initiatives to combat terrorist organizations and their criminal activities. He also emphasized the importance of protecting youth from ideological infiltration, extremism, and violence, viewing them as a central focus within Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

The Fourth High-Level Conference on the Dushanbe Process in Kuwait was held under the theme of “Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms – The Kuwait Phase.” Al-Khereiji pointed out the international nature of terrorism, which necessitates enhanced cooperation in global efforts led by the United Nations and relevant subcommittees. He mentioned the Kingdom’s effective communication channels and close cooperation with international organizations and friendly countries to exchange information and expertise in combating terrorism and transnational crimes within the framework of security cooperation and international agreements.

Saudi Arabia has been an active member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for combating money laundering and terrorism financing. It is also a founding member of the Global Counterterrorism Forum. Al-Khereiji highlighted several Saudi-led initiatives on the international level, including the establishment of the King Abdullah International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, the Ideological Warfare Center, and the formation of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition in 2015. He thanked Kuwait for its warm reception and hospitality, and Tajikistan for the invitation to the conference, expressing hope for fruitful results in reinforcing joint efforts and shared aspirations for a safer and more stable future.

The conference emphasized the importance of standing firmly against terrorism and drying up its sources of funding. Al-Khereiji reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to combatting terrorism through international cooperation. He stressed the need to build agile border security mechanisms to enhance counter-terrorism efforts. The Kingdom has prioritized countering terrorism on various fronts and has taken significant measures to address the issue, including protecting youth from extremist ideologies and violence.

Saudi Arabia’s efforts in combating terrorism and transnational crimes have been recognized internationally, with the Kingdom playing an active role in global counter-terrorism initiatives. Al-Khereiji acknowledged the importance of collaboration with international and regional organizations, as well as friendly and brotherly countries, to exchange information and expertise in the fight against terrorism. The deputy minister highlighted the Kingdom’s participation in various international forums and organizations dedicated to counter-terrorism efforts.

In conclusion, Al-Khereiji’s address at the Fourth High-Level Conference on the Dushanbe Process in Kuwait underscored Saudi Arabia’s commitment to international cooperation in combating terrorism. The Kingdom’s proactive approach to countering terrorism at both national and international levels was highlighted, with a focus on protecting youth from extremist influences and fostering strong religious and national values. The conference aimed to strengthen international counter-terrorism cooperation and build agile border security mechanisms to create a safer and more stable future for all.
