Abu Dhabi is experiencing a surge in the number of new hotels, the boom in tourism, and the rising demand for luxury experiences, leading to the emergence of top-notch international schools for culinary arts and hospitality management. The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT – Abu Dhabi) has partnered with world-class brands to open their campuses in the capital, aiming to bolster the tourism sector and talent in hospitality. One of the notable additions is the Ecole Ducasse Abu Dhabi Studio by Alain Ducasse, a renowned chef with 21 Michelin stars, which opened at the Cultural Foundation in Al Hosn in December last year.

In a further boost to the culinary education landscape, Le Cordon Bleu, another renowned institution, is set to open its first UAE campus on Saadiyat Island in 2025. Additionally, the Abu Dhabi Hospitality Academy – Les Roches, in partnership with Les Roches Global Hospitality, is scheduled to launch in Zayed Sports City this September. These initiatives aim to address the growing need for skilled professionals in the hospitality industry, as Abu Dhabi becomes a hub for luxury experiences.

According to industry experts, Abu Dhabi and the UAE are evolving into key players in the hospitality landscape, necessitating the preparation of professionals to meet industry demands. The industry has witnessed significant growth, with Abu Dhabi hosting about 24 million visitors last year, contributing approximately Dh49 billion to the UAE’s GDP. The UAE’s hospitality market size is projected to reach $9.46 billion by 2029, creating a demand for qualified talent in the sector, which new educational institutions aim to address.

Educational institutes in Abu Dhabi are focusing on nurturing local talent by equipping students with fundamental skills, a global outlook, and creativity to contribute to the success of the hotel industry. Emphasizing experiential learning and creativity will be crucial in shaping the careers of aspiring professionals, especially in the evolving culinary landscape of Abu Dhabi. Institutions like the International Centre for Culinary Arts in Abu Dhabi have been successful in training local talents to become entrepreneurs, bloggers, and head chefs, indicating a growing trend towards supporting home-grown talent in the industry.

All educational institutes in Abu Dhabi offer a range of programs, including short-term courses, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees, with special Emirati-centric courses to support the development of home-grown talents. As the demand for skilled professionals in the hospitality industry continues to grow, these educational initiatives play a crucial role in meeting industry requirements and preparing a new generation of professionals to cater to the evolving needs of Abu Dhabi’s burgeoning tourism and hospitality sector.
