Safe Transportation for Students: The Launch of Masari Application
The Directorate General of Education in Muscat has launched the Parents Application for the School Bus Safety System, named “Masari,” in a ceremony held at the Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) building. The event, which took place under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Bakri, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources for Agriculture, saw the attendance of numerous dignitaries and officials from the Ministry of Education.
According to Rahab bint Ali Al-Zakwani, the Assistant Director of the Career Guidance and Student Counseling Department, the initiative reflects a national commitment to employing modern technology and digital innovations to enhance community services. The primary objective is to improve safety and security within the school transportation system, showcasing how electronic applications have become essential in developing and enhancing service efficiency by facilitating rapid access to information and improving communication among stakeholders.
Enhancing Parent-Child Communication
The Parents Application for the Masari system is designed to provide an easy and reassuring experience for parents who want to track their children’s journey via school buses. Al-Zakwani emphasized that this project is not merely a technological tool, but a significant step toward establishing a safer and more efficient school transportation system. It aims to foster an educational environment that is supportive and safe for students, alongside strengthening the collaboration between families and transportation authorities, thereby instilling confidence and peace of mind among parents.
The successful implementation of this initiative is attributed to the synergy between national institutions, particularly Omantel, which has played a vital role in supporting the project and realizing its objectives. Additionally, collaboration with the global technology company responsible for the application’s design and development has ensured the project meets the needs of its users by adhering to best practices.
The Features of the Masari Application
The “Masari” project aims to elevate the standards of safety for students during their daily commutes between home and school. The application allows for real-time monitoring of bus routes for schools and educational authorities. Notifications will be sent directly to parents’ smartphones via the application when a school bus is approaching home or has reached the school. This feature enhances communication and keeps parents informed about their children’s whereabouts.
The system also enables speed monitoring of buses while alerting schools if the bus driver deviates from the prescribed route. Furthermore, immediate notifications will be triggered if a student remains on the bus after it has stopped and the trip has concluded, which is crucial in preventing incidents of students being left behind. The integration with onboard cameras and sensor systems further enhances safety measures, enabling a comprehensive monitoring system aligned with educational access portals.
Strategic Partnerships for Enhanced Safety
The development of this project is part of a strategic partnership with Omantel, highlighting the ongoing efforts to improve the school transportation network in Muscat. By leveraging digital solutions and modern technologies, authorities aim to reinforce student safety while also providing more efficient service to parents and schools.
Looking forward, the Masari application is anticipated to revolutionize how parents engage with school transportation systems. As officials continue to refine and expand the application’s features, stakeholders will closely monitor its impact on the safety and well-being of students during their travels to and from school.
