A Showcase of Camel Prowess: The Al Zamat Race

The Al Zamat Camel Race was arguably the most anticipated event of the weekend. Camel Khamisa, owned by Mohammed bin Nasser Al Hakamani from the Wilayat of Barka, emerged victorious, claiming the coveted Bayraq (flag) prize. This is a significant achievement, representing not only the camel’s speed and endurance but also the dedication and expertise of its owner and training team.

Following closely behind were Camel Samha, ridden by Musa’ab bin Hamad Al Jalandani from the Wilayat of Sumail, and Camel Shahbaz, representing Mohammed bin Rabie Al Rahbi from the Wilayat of Ibra. The close finish underscored the high level of competition present throughout the camel racing event. These races aren’t just about speed; they’re a testament to the careful breeding and training of these magnificent animals.

Celebrating Rider Skill: Al Tamayoz and Distinct Riders

The competitions weren’t limited to the camels themselves. The Al Tamayoz race highlighted the skill of the riders, with Muaz bin Amer Al Saadi, Musa’ab bin Amer Al Saadi, Salim bin Ali Al Qutaiti, and Ali bin Salim Al Qutaiti all securing wins. Their expertise in guiding and controlling these powerful animals was on full display.

Additionally, Mohammed bin Yousef Al Rahbi and Mohammed bin Nasser Al Rahbi were recognized for their exceptional skills as distinct riders, further emphasizing the importance of horsemanship in this traditional sport. Omani heritage is deeply intertwined with these equestrian traditions, passed down through generations.

Recognizing Excellence and Community Support

The conclusion of the Al Ardha competitions was presided over by Sheikh Hamid bin Nasser Al Kathiri, Deputy Wali of Al Amerat. He took the opportunity to honor the winners of each race, acknowledging their dedication and achievement. The event also served as a platform to recognize the contributions of those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure its success.
