The Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee, established in 2014, meets annually alternating between Qatar and Turkiye, led by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The committee serves as a platform for consultation on Qatari-Turkish relations, fostering cooperation in economy, investment, defense, security, and culture. Over nine meetings, the two nations have signed over 110 agreements to enhance their partnership and align on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The first meeting in Doha in 2015 led to agreements in security, finance, education, and more. Following meetings in Trabzon, Turkiye, Istanbul, and consecutive returns to Doha and Istanbul, agreements were signed in various fields such as culture, defense, trade, finance, and urban planning. The latest session in Doha in December 2023 resulted in agreements on political consultations, culture, labor, education, military cooperation, and more. These meetings have significantly strengthened the relationship between Qatar and Turkiye to distinguished strategic levels.

The Qatar Investment Authority manages large-scale projects in Turkiye, with 200 Qatari companies operating in the Turkish market and 771 Turkish companies active in Qatar. Qatari private sector presence in Turkish sectors like real estate, tourism, manufacturing, and healthcare has grown significantly. Recent investments have expanded into Turkish ports and technology, with trade exchange reaching QR4.75bn in 2023. Both countries aim to increase this volume to $5bn in the medium term.

The regular meetings of the committee demonstrate the strong relationship between Doha and Ankara, reinforcing their commitment to developing cooperation and partnership. Both countries have united against regional challenges, working together on mediation, conflict resolution, and promoting peace and stability globally. The continued collaboration between Qatar and Turkiye showcases their shared perspectives on critical issues and their dedication to strengthening their alliance.
