The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) in Doha recently held an introductory meeting for students who will be participating in the first Summer Environmental Club programme. Taking place from June 30 to July 18, 2024, the program aims to educate and raise awareness among young individuals about environmental sustainability and the Qatari environment. The Director of the Public Relations and Communications Department at MoECC, Mohammed Ahmed Al Dhahi, emphasized the importance of creating a new generation of environmental pioneers who understand the significance of environmental protection.
The group of 20 students participating in the program will undergo a 15-day course designed to enhance their environmental knowledge and skills. The schedule includes various workshops, lectures, and field trips led by experts from the Ministry. Through these activities, participants will learn about the components of the Qatari environment, local plants and animals, as well as the objectives of sustainable environmental development outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030. The program aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and tools to engage in environmental initiatives within their communities.
One of the key focuses of the programme is to raise awareness about recycling processes and their contribution to environmental sustainability. Participants will also be introduced to the biodiversity of the Qatari environment, its role in ecosystem preservation, and the state’s efforts to protect and enrich it.
