The Dubai Police, in partnership with other organizations, recently launched a campaign to distribute water, cold drinks, meals, and sunshades to 300 workers in the Al Quoz area. This initiative, spearheaded by the authority’s “Positive Spirit” program, also involved the “Good Umbrella 2” and “Dubai Water Aid” initiatives. The goal was to provide relief to laborers who are often exposed to extreme temperatures during the summer months. UAE authorities have a history of supporting workers by providing essential items to help them combat heat exhaustion.

The distribution campaign in Al Quoz is part of a larger effort by the Dubai Police to prioritize the well-being of employees working in challenging conditions. The authorities recognize the importance of supporting workers, especially during the scorching summer season when the risk of heat-related illnesses is high. By providing water, cold drinks, meals, and sunshades, the Dubai Police and their partners aim to alleviate some of the hardships faced by laborers in the region.

The initiative also includes the Al Freej Fridge program, which distributed over 35,000 ice creams and juices daily to workers until August 23. This initiative was well-received by workers who appreciated the refreshments provided during their work hours. Additionally, air-conditioned rest stations were set up for delivery riders, offering them a place to rest, pray, and watch movies between deliveries. These stations provided much-needed relief to riders who often struggled to find a suitable break spot.

In line with their commitment to worker welfare, the UAE government has implemented a midday break policy from June 15 to September 15. During this time, working under direct sunlight and in open-air areas between 12.30pm and 3.00pm is prohibited to protect employees from the sweltering heat. Companies that fail to comply with the midday break regulations face fines of Dh5,000 per employee, with penalties increasing up to Dh50,000 for multiple violations. This strict enforcement underscores the government’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of workers in the country.

As part of their ongoing efforts to support workers, the Dubai Police and other organizations are committed to providing essential items and services to laborers during the summer months. By distributing water, cold drinks, meals, and sunshades, these initiatives aim to mitigate the risks associated with working in extreme heat. Additionally, the availability of air-conditioned rest stations and the implementation of the midday break policy further demonstrate the government’s dedication to safeguarding the health and safety of employees in the UAE.
