The Saudi Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has recently approved the requirements for exemption from customs duties and taxes for duty-free markets in the arrival lounges at all land, sea, and air customs points in the Kingdom. The maximum purchase limit from duty-free markets in arrival lounges is set at SR3,000 per passenger for personal use, with a maximum quantity of 200 cigarettes per passenger. Following the licenses granted to operators of duty-free markets in departure lounges, ZATCA is now accepting license applications from operators of duty-free markets in arrival lounges at customs points.

To apply for a license, operators can contact ZATCA through various channels such as the unified call center number 19993, Ask Zakat, Tax, and Customs on the X platform, email, or live chat on the website. This move is part of ZATCA’s efforts to enhance the logistical services provided to duty-free market operators at customs points in both arrival and departure lounges. Duty-free markets aim to improve the experience of passengers arriving in the Kingdom by offering products that are exempted from customs duties and taxes.

ZATCA’s recent approval of the exemption form for customs duties and taxes for duty-free markets and acceptance of license applications for their operation in arrival lounges is in line with the unified customs system for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The new rules and regulations were established following a Cabinet decision that allows the establishment of duty-free markets at air, sea, and land entry points, enabling sales to passengers arriving in and departing from the Kingdom.

In conclusion, this latest development by the Saudi Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority will provide a boost to the duty-free market industry in the Kingdom and enhance the overall experience for passengers arriving in Saudi Arabia. By setting clear requirements for exemption from customs duties and taxes and accepting license applications for duty-free markets, ZATCA is working towards improving logistical services and promoting economic growth in the region. It is essential for operators of duty-free markets to adhere to these regulations to ensure a smooth and efficient process for passengers purchasing goods at arrival lounges.
