The Theater Affairs Center of the Ministry of Culture in Doha will be hosting a workshop on the art of acting starting on Thursday, August 15 and running until mid-September. The workshop will focus on both physical and psychological preparation of actors, as well as helping them understand the history of theater and different directorial styles. Ibrahim Al Baker, an artist and creative director, explained that the workshop will cover the secrets of the theater stage, actor preparation exercises based on Konstantin Stanislavski’s approach, and lectures on the history and evolution of global theater.

During the workshop, participants will study international theater texts such as Oedipus Rex and explore ways to strengthen their imagination. The play “The Elephant, O King of Time” by Syrian playwright Saadallah Wannous will be examined at the conclusion of the workshop. Renowned actors in Qatar, including Faleh Fayez and Saleh Almannai, will be participating in the workshop to provide expertise in improvisational theater, imagination, reincarnation, music, and disguises on stage. The goal of the workshop is to enhance the talents of artists, particularly the youth, and cultivate a new generation of theatrical innovators in Qatar.

The workshop aims to equip actors with the skills and knowledge needed to understand and embody any character they portray on stage. By focusing on both physical and psychological preparation, participants will learn the importance of internalizing historical knowledge about theater and various directorial schools. Through a series of exercises and lectures, actors will be able to enhance their understanding of the theater stage and improve their ability to bring characters to life.

By studying international theater texts and exploring different techniques to strengthen imagination, participants will be able to broaden their understanding of the art of acting. The workshop will also provide a platform for senior actors in Qatar to share their expertise and insights with the next generation of theatrical talent. With a focus on continuous learning and improvement, the workshop will play a crucial role in cultivating a vibrant theater scene in Qatar and nurturing the growth of young artists in the country.

The workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the art of acting, covering key aspects such as character development, stage presence, and the interpretation of texts. By delving into the history and evolution of global theater, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the art form and its significance. Through a series of practical exercises and theoretical lectures, actors will be able to enhance their skills and expand their understanding of the creative process.

Overall, the workshop on the art of acting at the Theater Affairs Center in Doha is set to be a transformative experience for participants, offering valuable insights into the world of theater and providing them with the tools they need to excel in their craft. By focusing on physical and psychological preparation, historical knowledge, and practical exercises, the workshop will play a vital role in elevating the skills and talents of actors in Qatar. Through collaboration with senior actors and experts in the field, participants will have the opportunity to learn from the best and further develop their skills as theatrical innovators.
