UAE: Sharjah Launches Pakistan Business Council to Boost Trade and Market Expansion

The Pakistan Business Council Sharjah has been established by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the aim of boosting trade between the UAE and Pakistan. With over 100 members, the Council will provide Pakistani entrepreneurs with opportunities to promote their businesses, expand into regional markets, and engage in joint ventures such as conferences and trade shows. The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to connecting the private and government sectors through initiatives like the business councils. The launch of the Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah highlights the flourishing Pakistani private sector in the emirate.

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry aims to hold exhibitions and trade missions in collaboration with the Pakistan Business Council to further enhance bilateral trade relations. The Council already has chapters operating in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Dr. SM Tahir, president of the Pakistan Business Council, emphasized the importance of representing the Pakistani community in Sharjah, especially considering the city’s strong manufacturing sector where many Pakistani businessmen have investments. The Council currently has over 100 members, the majority of whom are business owners.

The launch event of the Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah was attended by key figures including Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, chairman of the SCCI, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, ambassador of Pakistan in the UAE, and Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, second vice chairman of the Sharjah Chamber. The non-oil trade between the UAE and Pakistan has seen significant growth, reaching Dh25.7 billion in 2022, a 30% increase from the previous year. Furthermore, the UAE has pledged a $10 billion investment in Pakistan’s key economic sectors, signaling a commitment to strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

The establishment of the Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah signifies a significant step towards promoting economic cooperation and trade between the UAE and Pakistan. The Council provides a platform for Pakistani entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses, explore new markets, and engage in collaborative ventures with local and regional partners.
