The UAE is making significant efforts to attract and retain talent in the country by setting up specialist committees and implementing changes to its immigration system, such as introducing the Golden Visa. With its safety, stability, and attractive opportunities, the UAE has successfully positioned itself as 22nd globally in talent attraction and retention, with plans to break into the top 10 countries within the next seven years. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Minister in Charge of Talent Attraction and Retention, emphasized the importance of education in attracting talent at an early age, highlighting the impact of countries like Australia, Denmark, and Finland that have capitalized on the education sector to attract and retain bright minds.

During the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) in Sharjah, Dr. Al Zeyoudi discussed the challenges of attracting and retaining talent, especially in the Internet-oriented Generation Z. Moroccan inventor Rachid Yazami praised the stability of the UAE as an essential factor for attracting talent and suggested aiming for the next Nobel Prize winner to come from the country. He shared his experience of being approached by a government official from Singapore to move to the country and highlighted Singapore’s successful strategy of attracting top talents. Dr. Al Zeyoudi also emphasized the importance of different countries’ marketing strategies in attracting talents, citing examples of Denmark, Finland, Singapore, and Switzerland’s approaches.

Another panelist at the IGCF, minister Simon Cobu from Tuvalu, a Polynesian island country with a population of 10,000, shared the country’s campaign to become the first digital country in the world. Due to the risk of being submerged by global warming, Tuvalu aims to exist digitally forever as a digital nation. The forum shed light on the diverse strategies employed by countries to attract and retain talent, showcasing the importance of stability, education, and innovation in the process. The UAE’s continuous efforts in talent attraction and retention have positioned it as a promising destination for bright minds seeking opportunities and stability in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

In conclusion, the UAE’s initiatives and efforts to attract and retain talent through specialized committees, immigration system reforms, and education-focused strategies have positioned the country as a competitive player in the global talent market. With a focus on stability, innovation, and tailored marketing strategies, the UAE aims to climb the ranks of the top countries for talent attraction and retention in the coming years. The discussions at the IGCF highlighted the importance of soft power, education, and sector-specific approaches in attracting bright minds, showcasing the diverse strategies employed by countries like Singapore, Denmark, and Tuvalu to succeed in talent retention and sustainable growth. The UAE’s goal of becoming a top destination for talent underscores its commitment to fostering a conducive environment for innovation, growth, and prosperity in the region.
