Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi is currently hosting a free-to-attend reading programme filled with a variety of activities for people to enjoy. This programme, coinciding with the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024, is being held at Mamsha Al Saadiyat and will run for seven days until May 9. Organized by Miral, a leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences in Abu Dhabi, the programme is open to all ages and does not require prior registration.

The programme, titled ‘Miral’s Reading Experience’, will feature a book signing by six-year-old Emirati author Alfai Al Marzooqi, who holds a Guinness World Records title as the youngest female author to publish a book. Additionally, there will be a book donation drive to ensure that everyone has access to books while promoting sustainable practices. Taghrid AlSaeed, Miral’s executive director of group communications and destination marketing, emphasized the initiative’s goal to cultivate an inclusive community culture through literature.

Immersive literary workshops will be offered at the event, including storytelling, writing, art, calligraphy, Arabic name-writing, and a sustainable slime workshop for children by Hamad Al Marzooqi, Alfai’s four-year-old brother. Visitors can also participate in activities such as hangman, connect the dots, ‘carrom’ tabletop board game, spelling bee contests, storytelling with puppets, and local tales reading, Al Khararif. The full schedule of the Miral Reading Experience can be found on the group’s social media platforms.

The initiative aims to engage the community and provide an enriching and enlightening experience through literature. Miral’s commitment to the educational pillar of their CSR strategy is highlighted through this event, showcasing their dedication to fostering a love for reading and learning in Abu Dhabi. The reading programme offers a platform for individuals of all ages to come together and immerse themselves in a literary journey that promotes education, creativity, and cultural exchange.

Overall, the reading programme on Saadiyat Island is a unique opportunity for individuals to enjoy a range of literary activities and workshops in a vibrant and engaging setting. By incorporating a mix of traditional and modern elements, such as storytelling with puppets and slime workshops, the event caters to a diverse audience and promotes a love for reading and learning. As participants explore the world of literature through various interactive sessions, they are encouraged to embrace sustainability and community engagement, fostering a sense of togetherness and inclusivity through the power of storytelling and education.
