In a recent announcement, the UAE Cabinet revealed that Emirati applicants with a minimum of three years of experience in the private sector will receive priority in federal government job placements. This decision aims to utilize the expertise and knowledge gained from the private sector to enhance services within government departments. The UAE has been actively encouraging Emiratis to pursue careers in the private sector and has seen many Emiratis transitioning to private companies, as the benefits offered by both sectors have become more comparable. Private firms are also mandated by law to increase the number of Emiratis in their workforce each year, further promoting Emirati employment in the private sector.

Furthermore, the UAE Cabinet introduced a new role, Chief Executive Officer for Artificial Intelligence (AI), across ministries and federal entities. This position is crucial in positioning the UAE as a leader in AI applications, focusing on strategic planning, promoting best practices, and overseeing AI integration and governance. The Cabinet also approved a comprehensive guide for the use of generative AI technologies within the government, aimed at standardizing best practices for the ethical, responsible, and safe application of AI in sectors such as education, healthcare, and media.

The emphasis on private sector experience for government job applicants highlights the value placed on diversifying skill sets and expertise within government agencies in the UAE. By utilizing the knowledge gained in the private sector, government departments can enhance their service delivery and efficiency. This move also aligns with the UAE’s broader efforts to promote Emirati employment in various sectors, including the private industry.

The appointment of Chief Executive Officers for Artificial Intelligence across ministries and federal entities underscores the UAE’s commitment to becoming a leader in AI applications. By strategically planning and promoting best practices in AI integration and governance, the UAE aims to leverage AI technologies for the benefit of its citizens and residents. The guidelines for the use of generative AI technologies within the government further demonstrate the country’s commitment to ethical and responsible AI implementation in key sectors.

Overall, these recent announcements by the UAE Cabinet reflect the country’s proactive approach towards leveraging private sector expertise and advancing AI applications in various sectors. By prioritizing Emiratis with private sector experience for government job placements and appointing AI leaders across ministries, the UAE aims to strengthen its workforce and position itself as a global leader in AI technologies. Additionally, the guidelines for the ethical and safe use of AI technologies demonstrate the country’s commitment to responsible AI implementation and governance.
