Residents in UAE can benefit from a new initiative that offers them the opportunity to reduce black points on their driving licence starting from August 26. The initiative allows motorists who follow all relevant traffic rules on the first day of the new academic year to get four black points reduced from their files. Vara Malinovsky, a Russian national residing in Meydan, is looking to benefit from this initiative after accumulating six black points on her traffic file. She was not aware of a fire truck behind her and was fined Dh3,000. She managed to reduce two black points on her file after paying fines and impounding her vehicle at home.

To participate in the initiative, residents must sign a six-point pledge on the Ministry of Interior’s website, committing to safe driving practices. The pledge includes maintaining a safe distance, giving priority to pedestrians, wearing seatbelts, obeying speed limits, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, and giving way to emergency vehicles. Abdul Hadi, an Iranian expat residing in Nad Al Hamar, accumulated 22 black points over a year due to various violations, but after clearing the fines, he is left with just two. He plans to register for the initiative pledge to avoid future violations and benefit from the reduction of black points.

Black points are penalties imposed on motorists for serious traffic violations, and accumulating 24 points within a year can result in a driver’s licence suspension. Indian resident Amr Akram, a businessman, found himself with 12 black points on his traffic file due to parking in a special needs space and littering while driving. He plans to take advantage of the initiative to reduce his black points and ensure safer driving practices to avoid future violations. The initiative aims to promote safer roads as students return to school, and residents eager to clear their records are expected to participate in the initiative, with the automatic removal of four black points from driving licences on September 14.

Overall, the initiative in UAE provides residents with the opportunity to reduce black points on their driving licences by following all traffic rules on the first day of the academic year. Residents must sign a six-point pledge committing to safe driving practices to be eligible for the initiative, which aims to promote safer roads as students return to school. By participating in the initiative, motorists can avoid licence suspension by reducing the accumulation of black points through adherence to traffic rules and safe driving practices. Residents like Vara Malinovsky and Abdul Hadi have already benefitted from the initiative, with plans to register for the pledge to ensure compliance and avoid future violations. The initiative provides a positive incentive for motorists to prioritize road safety and contribute to a safer driving environment in the UAE.
