The UAE is known for its stable weather and constant sunshine, but occasional adverse weather conditions can pose risks to people and property. To keep residents and visitors safe, the Dubai Media Office and local authorities have issued a comprehensive advisory with tips on how to stay safe during storms, heavy rainfall, fog, dust storms, and gusty winds. By following these guidelines and practical tips, individuals can protect themselves and others whether they are at home, work, or on the road.

One of the key tips provided is what to do if rainwater enters a house and the water level is rising. In such a situation, it is important to disconnect the main electrical panel and move to the highest, safest spot. Calling DEWA at 991 and contacting Dubai Police Operations at 999 for immediate assistance is also crucial. If water has flooded the house and it is no longer safe to stay, individuals are advised to scan the home, keep electrical tools and appliances away from water, and prepare for evacuation.

In the event of a power outage that causes an elevator to stop, individuals should remain calm and call Dubai Police at 999 for assistance. If there is a complete electricity cut-off, it is important not to attempt to restore it but to contact DEWA at 991 for specialized assistance. For any electrical incidents in the house, it is advisable to avoid tampering with wires, keep family members in a secure location, and dial 997 for help.

In case of dense smoke rising from a building or smoke coming from an electrical generator in the house, individuals are advised to stay in a secure location and call 997 for urgent assistance. If there is a fire in the house, everyone should evacuate immediately and contact 997 for help. On the road, it is recommended to only drive if it is safe to do so, ensure tires and windscreen wipers are in good condition, reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from other cars, and pull over in poor visibility conditions.

Overall, it is important to always have a safety plan in place and be prepared for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise during adverse weather conditions. By following these simple guidelines and tips, individuals can help mitigate risks and ensure their safety and security during storms and other natural calamities in the UAE. Stay informed, stay safe, and be prepared for any weather-related emergencies.
