Team Abu Dhabi’s Rashed Al Qemzi clinched a commanding victory in the Grand Prix of Italy, regaining the lead in the 2024 UIM F2 World Championship. The four-time F2 world champion led from start to finish, securing his second Grand Prix success of the season ahead of teammate Mansoor Al Mansoori. Al Qemzi now has an eight-point championship lead over Mathilda Wiberg from Sweden, with Edgaras Riabko from Lithuania one point behind. Al Qemzi is aiming to become the first driver to win the F2 title five times, putting him in a strong position to achieve this milestone with back-to-back final race weekends in Portugal later this month.

Mansoor Al Mansoori has also boosted his chances of finishing in the championship’s top three with a composed display that lifted him into fourth place in the standings. Al Qemzi, who took pole position on Saturday, dominated the race despite three stoppages and challenges, including loose turn buoys and a crash by Norway’s Frode Sundsdal. The delays did not phase Al Qemzi, who finished the job in style, showcasing the skills that could make him the most successful driver in the championship’s history by surpassing Sweden’s Erik Stark’s four titles. However, he will have to stay alert with Wiberg and Riabko still capable of securing a big result in the upcoming races in Portugal.

With the championship approaching its climax, all eyes will be on Al Qemzi as he aims to secure another victory and solidify his position as the championship leader. Al Mansoori will also be looking to capitalize on his recent performance and secure a top-three finish in the standings. The teamwork and dominance displayed by Team Abu Dhabi’s dynamic duo of Al Qemzi and Al Mansoori have been instrumental in their success this season, and they will be looking to maintain their momentum in the upcoming races. The competition from Wiberg and Riabko will keep things interesting, adding an element of suspense to the final race weekends in Portugal.

As the race for the F2 World Championship title heats up, Al Qemzi’s pursuit of a fifth championship win will be closely watched by fans and competitors alike. With the potential to make history as the most successful driver in the championship’s history, Al Qemzi will need to maintain his focus and determination to achieve this feat. The pressure will be on in the final race weekends in Portugal, as the competition intensifies and the stakes become higher. Al Qemzi’s skill, experience, and teamwork with Al Mansoori will be crucial factors in determining the outcome of the championship battle, with every point and position counting towards the final standings.

The Grand Prix success in Italy has solidified Al Qemzi’s lead in the championship, but he cannot afford to rest on his laurels with strong competition from Wiberg and Riabko. The upcoming races in Portugal will be crucial in determining the outcome of the championship, with each driver vying for the title and a place in the record books. Al Qemzi’s dominance on the track and his determination to win will be key factors in his quest for a fifth F2 World Championship title. As the final race weekends approach, the excitement and anticipation among fans and competitors continue to build, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion to the 2024 UIM F2 World Championship season.
