Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur are set to face off in a pre-season friendly in Seoul, South Korea in August. This will be the first time England captain Harry Kane will meet his former strike partner Son Heung-min, who now plays for Tottenham. The match, scheduled for August 3 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, comes after Tottenham announced a pre-season fixture against Vissel Kobe in Japan on July 27. This will be Tottenham’s fourth visit to South Korea, where they have a large fan base due to the popularity of Son.

Both teams will feature players with connections to South Korea. Bayern Munich will have defender Kim Min-jae, while Tottenham will have Son Heung-min, who is a national hero in South Korea. Son, who recently wrapped up Tottenham’s Premier League campaign with a win against Sheffield United, is excited to play in front of his home fans as club captain. Kane, who scored 44 goals in his first season at Bayern, missed their final league match due to a back injury.

The pre-season match in Seoul will be a chance for fans to see some familiar faces, as Bayern’s Eric Dier will also be facing his former club. The friendly match will be an opportunity for both teams to engage with their South Korean fans and showcase their talent. Tottenham’s executive director expressed excitement for the team’s visit to South Korea and the chance to connect with their supporters in the country.

In addition to the friendly match against Bayern Munich, Tottenham will also play a K-League ‘All-Star’ XI, with dates and venues for these matches to be announced. The team, managed by Australian Ange Postecoglou, will also play a post-season exhibition match against Newcastle United in Melbourne. The 2024-25 Premier League season is set to begin on August 17, with the Bundesliga kicking off six days later. This pre-season friendly will provide an exciting opportunity for fans to see top-class football in Seoul and witness the meeting of former teammates on the pitch.
