Oleksandr Usyk emerged victorious in a closely contested split decision against Tyson Fury in their heavyweight title fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Despite Fury’s dominance in the middle rounds, a standing eight count in the ninth round changed the tide of the match, leading to Usyk’s victory. The judges’ decision made Usyk the first undisputed heavyweight champion in nearly 25 years, holding all four major heavyweight belts simultaneously. Usyk, visibly emotional after the win, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and the support from his family and country.

On the other hand, Fury voiced his belief that he won the fight, attributing the judges’ decision to the sympathy for Ukraine due to the ongoing Russian invasion. With a rematch clause in the contract, Fury is determined to face Usyk once again, with promoter Frank Warren confirming the likelihood of a rematch between the two heavyweight boxers. Despite Fury’s disappointment, he remains optimistic about the opportunity for a rematch and aims to come back stronger in October for the anticipated fight against Usyk.

Following the intense battle between Fury and Usyk, boxing fans are eager for a rematch to see the two fighters go head-to-head once more. Usyk’s aggressive performance in the later rounds and Fury’s determination to prove himself as the better boxer sets the stage for an action-packed rematch. Both fighters are willing to face each other again, with Usyk showing confidence in his ability to triumph over Fury once more. The potential for a rematch promises an exciting showdown between two of the world’s top heavyweight boxers.

In the co-main event of the night, Jai Opetaia captured the vacant IBF cruiserweight title with a unanimous decision win over Mairis Briedis, while Anthony Cacace retained his IBO super-featherweight title and claimed the IBF belt with a TKO victory over Joe Cordina. The undercard showcased thrilling matchups, adding to the excitement of the evening’s boxing events in Riyadh. With multiple titles on the line and impressive performances from the fighters, the event was a resounding success, leaving fans eager for future matchups and rematches in the world of boxing.
