Al Rayyan, a football club based in Doha, Qatar, had an impressive performance in the previous season, finishing as runners-up in the Qatar Stars League (QSL). However, they were unable to secure any silverware, including losing the Qatar Cup final. In hopes of achieving greater success in the upcoming season, the Lions are gearing up for an overseas training camp in the Netherlands next month.

The club recently announced that Al Rayyan’s training camp will take place from July 10 to 29, with the 2024-2025 QSL season set to kick off on August 9. Following in their footsteps, Al Shamal, who finished in ninth place in the league, will also be preparing for the new season with a training camp in Tiel, the Netherlands from July 14 to August 2.

On the other hand, Al Sadd, who had a dominant season winning the QSL and Amir Cup titles, are focusing on reinforcing their squad after the departure of Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah. The team has signed Rafa Mujica, a forward who previously played for FC Arouca in Portugal, scoring a total of 37 goals in 68 appearances.

Mujica, who also represented Spain at the U19 level, expressed his excitement about joining Al Sadd saying, “It feels great to sign for Al Sadd Club. I have great enthusiasm and passion for the beginning of my new phase with the club.” In addition to the new signing, Al Sadd has extended the contracts of Qatar internationals Tarek Salman and Boualem Khoukhi for the next three seasons.

In preparation for the new season, Al Ahli has appointed Croatian coach Igor Biscan for one season, with the possibility of extending the contract. The former Liverpool player and coach brings his experience from coaching in Croatia and Saudi Arabia to lead Al Ahli to a better season after finishing 10th in the league.

Meanwhile, Al Duhail is also seeking a turnaround following a disappointing season, with the recent signing of Spaniard Luis Alberto from Serie A side Lazio. The club is looking to strengthen their squad and improve their performance in the upcoming season. With these major developments happening in the Qatar football scene, fans can expect an exciting and competitive new season filled with intense matches and fierce competition.
