The Kingdom of Bahrain has successfully completed the third phase of its national afforestation campaign, “Stay Green,” resulting in the planting of 40,043 trees and shrubs across various locations throughout the country. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture, the Supreme Council for the Environment, and other stakeholders from the public and private sectors, has seen the completion of 47 afforestation projects. H.E. Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, the Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, expressed her appreciation for all participants involved in this ambitious project.

The success of the “Stay Green” campaign reflects the commitment of Bahrain to combat climate challenges and strive towards achieving net zero emissions by 2060, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain. The campaign was launched under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Wife of His Majesty the King, and the Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, which garnered widespread participation and support from citizens across the kingdom.

The significant impact of the campaign can be seen in the planting of over 40,000 trees and shrubs across 14,243 square meters and 7,463 linear meters, enhancing the green spaces and natural landscapes of Bahrain. This collaborative effort between government entities, environmental organizations, and volunteers demonstrates the collective commitment towards sustainable development and environmental conservation in the kingdom.

The successful completion of the third phase of the “Stay Green” campaign not only contributes to the beautification of Bahrain’s urban and rural areas but also plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity. By actively engaging in afforestation projects, Bahrain is taking proactive steps towards achieving its long-term sustainability goals and creating a greener and healthier environment for future generations to enjoy.

Through the dedication and hard work of all stakeholders involved in the campaign, Bahrain has made significant progress in fostering a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility among its citizens. By promoting active participation in afforestation initiatives, the kingdom is not only enhancing its natural landscapes but also fostering a sense of pride and ownership in the community towards their environment.

As Bahrain continues to prioritize sustainable development and environmental conservation, initiatives like the “Stay Green” campaign serve as a blueprint for future projects aimed at enhancing the natural beauty and biodiversity of the kingdom. By working together towards a common goal of creating a greener and more sustainable environment, Bahrain is setting a positive example for other nations to follow in their efforts to combat climate change and protect the planet for future generations.
