Saudi Security Forces Arrest 19,541 Illegal Immigrants in One Week

The Saudi security forces have cracked down on illegal residents in the Kingdom, with a total of 19,541 individuals arrested during the last week. These arrests were made during joint field security campaigns in collaboration with relevant government agencies between Dec. 26 and Jan. 1, according to the Ministry of Interior. Among those arrested, 11,402 were violators of the Residency Law, 4,775 violated the Border Security Law, and 3,364 violated the Labor Law. Additionally, 953 individuals were arrested while attempting to cross the border into the Kingdom, with the majority being Yemeni and Ethiopian nationals. Another 129 people were arrested while trying to leave the Kingdom illegally, and 27 individuals involved in facilitating the transportation, sheltering, and employment of violators were also arrested.

Currently, a total of 33,733 illegal residents are undergoing various legal procedures as part of punitive measures against them. Of these, 22,827 violators have been referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents, while 5,365 individuals were referred to complete their travel reservations. A further 8,954 violators have been deported by the authorities. The Ministry of Interior has issued a warning that anyone found facilitating the illegal entry, transportation, or sheltering of individuals in the Kingdom may face severe penalties, including up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million. Vehicles and properties used for these purposes will also be confiscated. To combat these illegal activities, the ministry has urged the public to report any violations by calling emergency hotlines in different regions of the Kingdom.

The recent crackdown on illegal residents in Saudi Arabia is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the security and stability of the Kingdom. By enforcing the Residency, Border Security, and Labor Laws, authorities are working to maintain order and protect the rights of legal residents. The high number of arrests highlights the prevalence of illegal immigration and the challenges faced by the authorities in combating this issue. With a large number of individuals attempting to enter or leave the Kingdom illegally, there is a need for increased vigilance and enforcement measures to prevent such activities.

The deportation of violators and the referral of others to their diplomatic missions for travel documents are part of the legal process to address the issue of illegal residents in the Kingdom.
