Saudi roads experience a 92% decrease in accidents due to new solar lighting

The General Authority of Roads in Saudi Arabia recently announced a remarkable 92% decrease in traffic accidents by installing solar-powered lighting at 149 road intersections across the country. This initiative has not only improved traffic safety by enhancing night visibility and clearly marking pathways for road users but has also reduced operational costs and carbon emissions associated with traditional energy sources. The adoption of solar energy for lighting has proven to be an effective and environmentally friendly solution to improve road safety in Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, the authority reported handling over 11,914 comments received through the call center and other digital channels, providing services for raising reports and requests, as well as answering inquiries. The average response time was an impressive seven seconds, with a service level of 93%. Customer satisfaction increased to about 89%, signifying the importance of road users sharing their comments and suggestions to further enhance Saudi Arabia’s road network. This demonstrates the authority’s commitment to engaging with the public and continuously improving road safety initiatives in the country.

The call center (938) of the General Authority of Roads in Saudi Arabia received 42,422 calls from road users during the first half of this year, along with numerous inquiries via multiple digital communication channels. This shows the high level of engagement from the public in providing feedback and seeking assistance for road-related issues. The authority’s proactive approach to addressing these inquiries and concerns in a timely manner has contributed to the significant decrease in traffic accidents and improved overall road safety across the country.

Overall, the adoption of solar-powered lighting at road intersections in Saudi Arabia has proven to be a successful strategy in reducing traffic accidents and improving road safety for all users. The authority’s commitment to engaging with the public, addressing feedback, and continuously seeking ways to enhance the road network demonstrates their dedication to providing a safe and efficient transportation system for the people of Saudi Arabia. By harnessing the power of solar energy, the authority has not only improved visibility at night but has also significantly reduced operational costs and carbon emissions, making a positive impact on the environment.

As a result of these initiatives, customer satisfaction has increased to about 89%, highlighting the positive impact of road users sharing their comments and suggestions with the General Authority of Roads. The high level of engagement from the public, as evidenced by the thousands of calls and inquiries received, demonstrates a strong commitment to improving road safety and overall transportation infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. Moving forward, the authority will continue to seek innovative solutions and engage with the public to further enhance road safety initiatives and create a more sustainable transportation system for all users.
