Saudi Arabia to host meeting in preparation for the ninth conference of Islamic ministers

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawa, and Guidance will hold an Executive Council meeting on August 3, 2024, in preparation for the ninth conference of ministers of awqaf and Islamic affairs in Islamic countries. This conference, under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, will focus on promoting and consolidating the values of moderation as its central theme. Ministers of awqaf and Islamic affairs, muftis, and heads of Islamic councils and associations from over 60 countries will come together for this important event.

Participants of the conference will engage in 10 working sessions to discuss various topics related to promoting moderation and combatting extremism, fanaticism, and terrorism. They will explore the role of a renewed concept of religious address in promoting moderation, strategies to confront extremism, and the necessity of protecting society from hate speech and extremism. Additionally, they will discuss methods to spread the values of tolerance and coexistence, combat Islamophobia, and explore the impact of awqaf on increasing the gross domestic product.

Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Al-Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawa, and Guidance, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Conference, expressed his gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support and interest in the conference. The conference aims to bring together leaders in Islamic countries to promote values of moderation and tolerance, as well as discuss ways to combat extremism and promote peaceful coexistence. The impact of awqaf on economic development and the contribution of endowment funds to investment will also be explored during the conference.

The conference will serve as a platform for ministers of awqaf and Islamic affairs, muftis, and heads of Islamic councils and associations to exchange ideas and experiences on promoting moderation and tolerance in Islamic countries. It will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss strategies to combat extremism, fanaticism, and terrorism, as well as ways to protect society from hate speech and extremism. By engaging in 10 working sessions, participants will have the chance to explore various topics related to the conference’s central theme and contribute to promoting peace and tolerance in Islamic societies.
