Saudi Arabia has claimed the top spot in the cybersecurity indicator globally, according to the 2024 World Competitiveness Yearbook published by the Swiss-based Institute for Management Development (IMD). This achievement has been welcomed by Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban, the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) Board of Directors Chairman, who sees it as a validation of the country’s leading role in international cybersecurity and a reflection of its commitment to Saudi Vision 2030. The success is attributed to the continuous guidance of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whose vision has positioned the Kingdom as a global model in various fields.

The strategic development of the cybersecurity sector in Saudi Arabia, guided by Vision 2030, focuses on both security and growth aspects, both domestically and internationally. The Saudi model has become a pioneer in the field, attracting international recognition. The National Cybersecurity Authority serves as the central authority in the Kingdom, with the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE) serving as its technical arm. Efforts at both local and international levels have contributed to Saudi Arabia’s rise in cybersecurity rankings.

The Kingdom has launched the Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF), providing a platform for global dialogue on strategic cybersecurity issues. The GCF Institute promotes international collaboration in this crucial sector. Additionally, initiatives like the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Cybersecurity Ministerial Committee and the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers, both led by Saudi Arabia, showcase the Kingdom’s dedication to regional and pan-Arab cooperation. The NCA is actively engaged in cybersecurity exercises with over 40 countries, highlighting its commitment to international collaboration.

On the domestic front, the NCA is prioritizing cybersecurity through regulations, partnerships with industry stakeholders, and targeted initiatives. The National Cybersecurity Academy is facilitating workforce development, while programs are stimulating industry growth and investment. The National Program for Research, Development, and Innovation in Cybersecurity reflects Saudi Arabia’s long-term commitment to this vital field. The Kingdom’s efforts in cybersecurity are aimed at both securing its digital infrastructure and fostering growth in the industry.

The success of Saudi Arabia in the cybersecurity sector is a testament to its leadership’s vision and commitment to excellence. The Kingdom has emerged as a global model in various fields, especially in cybersecurity, attracting international praise for its strategic development in this crucial sector. The establishment of various initiatives, both domestically and internationally, showcases Saudi Arabia’s dedication to cybersecurity and collaboration with global partners.

With a focus on both security and growth aspects, Saudi Arabia’s cybersecurity sector has become a pioneer in the field, setting an example for others to follow. The continuous guidance of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the strategic direction of Vision 2030 have played a key role in positioning the Kingdom as a global leader in cybersecurity. As Saudi Arabia continues to prioritize cybersecurity through regulations, partnerships, and targeted initiatives, its commitment to excellence in this vital field remains unwavering.
