The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia has extended the grace period for the payment of a 50 percent reduction in accumulated traffic fines for another six months. This extension was announced in implementation of the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The new grace period will end on April 18, 2025, following the expiry of a previously announced six-month grace period on October 18, 2024.

The 50-percent discount in traffic fines allows perpetrators to make payment of fines either in one lump sum or separately for each violation. The reduction covers all violations committed before April 18, 2024, and all accumulated traffic fines must be settled within six months starting from April 18 until October 18, 2024, in order to benefit from this reduction. This initiative is aimed at alleviating the financial burden on citizens, expatriates, visitors, and GCC nationals by reducing penalties for all violations recorded up to the day before the reduction period begins.

The payment of traffic violations can be done through the SADAD payment system and the Efaa platform, as stated by the General Directorate of Traffic. It is important to be cautious of dealing with any suspicious links, phone calls, and websites that claim to provide this service. The Ministry of Interior has enforced a royal decree stating that committing specific violations during the reduction period, such as drifting, driving under the influence, or exceeding speed limits, would disqualify offenders from receiving the discount.

The Ministry of Interior has called on all road users to adhere to traffic rules in order to maintain traffic safety and avoid violations. This initiative aims to promote a culture of safe driving and responsible behavior on the roads. By extending the grace period for the payment of traffic fines, the Saudi government is showing its commitment to supporting its citizens and residents during these challenging times.

This extension of the grace period for traffic fine payments is part of the government’s efforts to provide financial relief to individuals who may be facing difficulties in meeting their financial obligations. By offering a reduced penalty for traffic violations, the government is recognizing the challenges that people may be facing and providing a way for them to address their outstanding fines in a more manageable way. This initiative is a reflection of the government’s commitment to supporting its citizens and residents during times of economic uncertainty.

In conclusion, the extension of the grace period for traffic fine payments in Saudi Arabia is a positive development that will benefit many individuals who may have been struggling to pay their fines. By offering a 50 percent reduction in accumulated traffic fines, the government is providing much-needed financial relief to its citizens, expatriates, visitors, and GCC nationals. This initiative is a step towards promoting safe driving practices and ensuring traffic safety on the roads. It is important for all road users to take advantage of this opportunity to settle their fines and avoid disqualification from receiving the discount.
