Renowned Indian entrepreneur Ram Buxani passes away in Dubai

Dr. Ram Buxani, a prominent Indian businessman based in Dubai, passed away at the age of 83 following an incident at his home early on a Sunday morning. He had arrived in Dubai in 1959 and was the chairman of the ITL Cosmos Group, a well-known business personality and philanthropist in the UAE. His contributions to the community were immense, as he played a pivotal role in establishing institutions such as the Indian High School and the India Club. Dr. Buxani was deeply involved in various organizations, serving as the President of the Rotary Club of Jumeirah and chairman of the Indian High School, among other positions. His passing is a significant loss for the Indian community in Dubai.

Bharat Chachara, CEO of India Club, expressed his sorrow over Dr. Buxani’s passing, highlighting the impact he had on the community. Chachara described Dr. Buxani as a visionary who not only focused on business success but also gave back to the community, contributing to the establishment of institutions that have had a lasting impact. He emphasized Dr. Buxani’s passion for preserving Sindhi culture and his dedication to community projects. Dr. Buxani was a founding member and former chairman of the India Club, where he served two terms, showcasing his commitment to community service and cultural preservation.

Kamal Vachani, group director and partner at Al Maya Group, also extended his condolences to Dr. Buxani’s family and friends, acknowledging the loss of a prominent figure in the UAE business community. Dr. Buxani had a dynamic personality and made significant contributions to various sectors, including hospitality and the F&B industry through his ITL Cosmos Group. He received several honors and awards for his service and contributions to the Indian community in the UAE, including the prestigious Shield of Honour from the President of India and recognition as one of the most influential Indians by Forbes Middle East.

Throughout his life, Dr. Buxani remained committed to bridging the gap between the Government of India and NRIs, actively participating in organizations such as the Overseas Indians Economic Forum. His efforts in education, business, and community service have left a lasting legacy in the UAE and beyond. Dr. Buxani’s impact on the Indian community in Dubai and his dedication to preserving cultural heritage will be remembered by those who knew him. His contributions to various sectors, from business to education, have earned him respect and recognition as a key figure in the Indian expat community in the UAE.
