Recent inspections by the Interior Ministry uncover more than 21,000 violations

The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia recently conducted inspection campaigns from July 25 to July 31, 2024, to ensure compliance with residency, labor, and border security regulations. These inspections resulted in the discovery of 21,049 violations across the Kingdom, with the majority related to residency regulations. Over 1,500 individuals were apprehended for attempting to enter or leave the Kingdom illegally, with a significant number coming from Yemen and Ethiopia. In addition, five individuals involved in facilitating the illegal activities were also arrested.

As a result of the inspections, 13,013 expatriates are currently undergoing procedures to enforce regulations, with some already being detained for violating laws. Those detained have been instructed to contact their countries’ embassies or consulates for proper travel documentation. Some individuals have been repatriated, while others are in the process of making arrangements for their departure from the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Interior has issued a warning that anyone involved in facilitating the illegal entry of individuals into the Kingdom may face severe penalties, including up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to SR1 million. Furthermore, vehicles used for transport or houses used for sheltering individuals may be confiscated. The ministry stressed that these actions are considered major crimes and urged the public to report any violations by calling the emergency numbers, such as 911 in certain regions and 999 or 996 in others.

It is crucial for all residents and expatriates in Saudi Arabia to abide by the country’s laws and regulations regarding residency, labor, and border security. Failure to do so can result in serious consequences, including imprisonment and hefty fines. The Ministry of Interior’s recent inspection campaigns are a clear indication of the government’s commitment to maintaining order and security within the Kingdom.

In order to prevent further violations and ensure compliance with regulations, the ministry will continue to conduct regular inspections and crack down on individuals involved in illegal activities. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious behavior or violations to the authorities promptly to help maintain the safety and security of the Kingdom.
