Rainy and stormy weather expected in Oman for the next four days

The Sultanate of Oman is expected to experience isolated rainfall and thunderstorms from Tuesday, July 30, 2024, to Friday, August 2, 2024. The National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center has issued a weather alert indicating that low pressure in the Arabian Sea will affect Oman during this period. Clouds advection is expected over most of the country, with a high chance of isolated rain and thunderstorms in South Al Sharqiya and parts of Al Wusta, North Al Sharqiya, Muscat, and Dhofar governorates.

On Tuesday and Wednesday evening, clouds advection is expected over most of the Sultanate of Oman, with clouds forming in the afternoon and evening over the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas. Isolated rain and thunderstorms are forecasted in South Al Sharqiyah, which may extend to the coasts of Al Wusta and parts of North Al Sharqiyah and Muscat. There will also be opportunities for drizzle and isolated rain in coastal and mountainous areas of Dhofar. The expected impacts include rainfall between 10-30 mm, fresh downdraft winds, decreased visibility during thunderstorms, and rough seas with a maximum height of four meters.

Thursday and Friday will see clouds advection and formation with chances of isolated rain and thunderstorms in the coastal areas of South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta. Clouds will also form in the Al Hajar Mountains in the afternoon and evening. Similar to the previous days, there will be opportunities for drizzle and isolated rain in coastal and mountainous areas of Dhofar. The expected impacts include rainfall between 10-25 mm, fresh downdraft winds, decreased visibility during thunderstorms, and rough seas with a maximum height of four meters.

In conclusion, Oman is expected to experience isolated rainfall and thunderstorms from Tuesday to Friday, with specific areas being more prone to these weather conditions. Residents and travelers are advised to stay updated on the latest weather alerts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period.
