Students from Qatar Foundation schools recently showcased their musical talent at the second annual Summer Serenades concert in Doha. This year’s event featured a diverse range of performers, including students with autism from Renad Academy, highlighting the rich cultural diversity within the community. The concert included performances from Qatar Academy Doha, Qatar Academy Msheireb, Qatar Academy Al Khor, Qatar Academy Al Wakra, Awsaj Academy, and Qatar Music Academy, all part of the Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education.

The evening was filled with a balanced mix of Arabic and non-Arabic musical pieces, showcasing the wide range of talents among the students. One of the standout performances of the night came from Arab Takht, a talented band from Qatar Music Academy, who showcased instruments like the Qanun, Violin, Oud, Nai, and Arabic percussion. Another memorable moment was the collaborative performance of the song “How Sweet It Is to Live in Goodness and Peace”, which featured over 200 singers from the participating schools, accompanied by QMA’s Middle Takht.

One of the students, Taj Shalghin, a 16-year-old Qanun student at QMA, shared her excitement about performing at the concert, stating that the energy from the crowd was amazing and that the whole experience was enjoyable and incredible. She emphasized the hard work and preparation that went into the performance, as well as the invaluable support she received from teachers and staff. Shalghin expressed her enthusiasm for future performances, highlighting the thrill of being on stage, the joy of performing, and the opportunity to share her passion with others.

Reflecting on her experiences, Shalghin mentioned the importance of hard work, dedication, and perseverance in achieving amazing things. She emphasized the supportive community at Qatar Foundation, which she described as a big, encouraging family. Another student, Thajba Amro Al Shahwani, a 10-year-old student at Qatar Academy Al Khor, shared her feelings about the concert, expressing a mix of nerves and excitement, but ultimately feeling happy when singing together with her fellow students.

The Summer Serenades concert was a testament to the musical talent and cultural diversity present among students in Qatar Foundation schools. The collaborative performances and diverse range of musical pieces showcased the hard work and dedication of the students, as well as their passion for music. The event provided a platform for students to express themselves creatively, build confidence, and create unforgettable memories. With the support of teachers, staff, and the community, students like Taj Shalghin and Thajba Amro Al Shahwani were able to showcase their talents and grow as musicians, highlighting the importance of passion and perseverance in achieving success.
