Qatar has updated its “Hayya” visa platform, specifically enhancing the GCC Residents Visa (A2) to offer a longer stay duration and multiple-entry access for citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The changes, enacted on November 30, 2025, aim to streamline travel to Qatar during a busy period of sporting and cultural events. These updates are expected to boost Qatar tourism and simplify entry for regional visitors.

Streamlined Travel with the Hayya Visa for GCC Residents

The updated Hayya visa allows GCC residents to remain in Qatar for up to two months, a significant increase from previous limitations. Furthermore, the new visa provides multiple-entry access, meaning holders can leave and re-enter Qatar multiple times throughout the visa’s validity. These improvements were jointly announced by Qatar Tourism, the Ministry of Interior, and the Permanent Committee for Managing Visitor Entry.

Key Changes and Implementation

The timing of these changes is strategic, coinciding with preparations for the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup. Qatar also has a full schedule of other international events planned, and the government anticipates that the easier visa procedure will encourage greater attendance at these gatherings. The Hayya platform will continue to be the central hub for managing visitor entry and event access.

According to Saeed Al Kuwari, Director of Hayya, the updates represent a broader effort to strengthen regional ties and boost Qatar’s economy. He emphasized that these measures aren’t merely procedural adjustments, but reflect a dedication to facilitating smoother travel experiences and increasing visitor arrivals. Qatar aims to reinforce its position as a leading destination for both tourism and global events.

The Hayya platform currently offers a total of five distinct visa categories: Tourist Visa (A1), GCC Resident Visa (A2), Visa with ETA (A3), Companion of GCC Citizen Visa (A4), and a Visa-Free option for US Citizens (F1). This current adjustment focuses specifically on making the A2 visa more accessible and appealing to residents of GCC nations, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Oman.

Hayya functions as Qatar’s official digital e-visa system. It’s designed to integrate various aspects of the visitor experience, including visa processing, event ticketing, domestic transport options, and lifestyle services, into a single, user-friendly application. This holistic approach is intended to enhance convenience and facilitate a more seamless trip for international travelers.

Beyond easing entry requirements, the platform encourages exploration of Qatar’s cultural heritage and natural attractions. It also aims to support event organizers by providing tailored digital solutions for attendees and delegates. Qatar Tourism hopes this accessibility will promote greater spending within the country during visits.

Support for the Hayya platform is available 24/7 through the “Hayya” Contact Center. Representatives offer assistance in Arabic, English, Tagalog, Urdu, and Hindi. Individuals can contact the center via email or by phone at 2022 within Qatar, or +974 4441 2022 from international locations.

Looking ahead, authorities will monitor the impact of these changes on arrival numbers and economic activity. There is no immediate indication of planned adjustments to other visa categories, but those developments may occur based on the performance of the updated Hayya platform. The success of these modifications will likely influence Qatar’s long-term visa policy and efforts to attract tourism.

Continued assessment of the platform’s functionality and user feedback will be crucial to further refine the process and ensure a seamless travel experience for all visitors. Any future alterations to the visa system or Hayya platform will be announced through official Qatar Tourism channels.
