Qatar University’s Associate Professor is honored with Saudi Award for Environmental Management

Dr. Abdullah Al Swidi, an Associate Professor at Qatar University’s College of Business and Economics, recently received the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Award for Environment Management in the Islamic World. This prestigious award was presented at the Ninth Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers in Jeddah in recognition of Dr. Al Swidi’s outstanding contributions to Environmental Research and Practices. The award, established in 2004, aims to promote environmental cooperation among Islamic countries and highlight global experiences in environmental protection from an Islamic perspective.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Award for Environment Management in the Islamic World is a joint initiative between the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). Awarded biennially, this recognition seeks to encourage individuals and institutions dedicated to managing natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations. The award is divided into four categories, including research, achievements, and practices in sustainable development, leading practices in environmental NGOs, and women’s leadership in environmental activities.

In the category of women’s leadership, three awards are allocated, including research, achievements, and successful practices, public associations and NGOs, and leadership in private or government sector institutions. Additionally, the award recognizes the best environment-friendly Islamic city that meets requirements for achieving environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Dr. Al Swidi’s accomplishment in the field of Environmental Research and Practices has distinguished him as a deserving recipient of this esteemed award, highlighting his commitment to environmental stewardship within the Islamic world.

As an Associate Professor at Qatar University, Dr. Abdullah Al Swidi is a respected academic with a focus on Management and Marketing.
