The upcoming 2024 Global Security Forum in Qatar, scheduled from May 20 to 22, will bring together prominent international leaders, security experts, and policymakers to discuss the theme ‘Strategic Competition: The Complexity of Interdependence.’ Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the forum aims to delve into the intricate dynamics of global security, addressing the challenges and opportunities shaped by our interconnected world.

This exclusive event will see the participation of distinguished personalities such as Rwandan President Paul Kagame, Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, and several other government officials, ministers, and media personalities. The forum will kick off with opening remarks by Qatar’s Prime Minister, setting the stage for discussions on Qatar’s role in fostering international dialogue amid growing global tensions.

Throughout the event, attendees can expect a series of ministerial fireside chats, high-level speeches, and panel discussions covering a wide range of topics. These include the impact of global strategic competition on small states, the consequences of the war in Gaza, post-conflict reconciliation, national security, counter-terrorism, and the implications of emerging technologies on global security.

Moreover, the forum will host various side events focused on conflict resolution, education, and law enforcement cooperation and relations. The insights gathered from these discussions are crucial for understanding and navigating the complex global security landscape, providing innovative solutions and building stronger partnerships to achieve and maintain global peace and stability.

Colin P Clarke, Director of Research at The Soufan Group, emphasized the forum’s role in addressing evolving threats and geopolitical challenges. He highlighted the significance of the discussions for enhancing collective efforts in tackling pressing international issues, paving the way for collaborative strategies for peace.

The outcomes and strategies discussed at the forum will be compiled into a comprehensive report, covering technological advancements, geopolitical tensions, and collaborative frameworks for global peace. The event, organized by the Qatar International Academy for Security Studies (QIASS) and The Soufan Center, is held in collaboration with several high-level agencies and institutions, including the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) and New America Foundation.

Participants can join the forum virtually through the official website, globalsecurityforum.com, making it accessible to a wider audience and facilitating global dialogue on critical security issues. The 2024 Global Security Forum aims to be a platform for fostering cooperation, sharing insights, and building partnerships to address the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world.
