The State of Qatar’s official delegation participated in the 15th International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2024” in Kazan city, Tatarstan Republic between May 14-19, 2024. The delegation witnessed the official inauguration of the “Russia Halal Expo” international exhibition. Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanim led the delegation, which included Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani, Qatar’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation.

During the forum, Qatar’s delegation held bilateral meetings with key officials, including Tatarstan’s President H E Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation H E Marat Khusnullin, and Tatarstan’s Minister of Industry and Trade H E Oleg Korobchenko. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the two countries in commerce, investment, and industry, as well as exchanging views on the forum’s agenda. The meetings highlighted Qatar’s successful economic policies in supporting the private sector and the incentives, legislations, and opportunities available to encourage investors and businessmen to invest in Qatar.

The delegation also visited the “Russia Halal Expo”, where they were introduced to various pavilions, services, and products offered by participating companies. Kazan Forum 2024 aims to enhance commercial, economic, academic, technical, social, and cultural ties between the Russian Federation and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries. The forum organized events and dialogue sessions on various topics including Islamic financing, Halal manufacturing, investment, industry, logistics services, tourism, technologies, international cooperation, diplomacy, environmental practices, social governance practices, SMEs, medicine, sports, and more.

Two media-related sessions were held on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (IOC), focusing on the transformation of the information field in the modern world and IOC countries and the information space between unification and fragmentation on global and Islamic countries levels for media representatives and heads of major broadcasting organizations. Discussions included modern media issues in countries with worldwide media influence and the impact of modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and Cloud Computing on reforming contemporary information.

Overall, the participation of Qatar’s delegation in the Kazan Forum 2024 provided valuable opportunities for enhancing cooperation with Russia and OIC countries in various sectors. The forum served as a platform for discussing important economic, technological, and cultural topics, and for exchanging views on ways to strengthen ties between the participating countries. Qatar’s successful economic policies and incentives for investors were highlighted during the bilateral meetings, showcasing the country as an attractive destination for business and investment. The delegation’s visit to the Russia Halal Expo also allowed for networking and exploring new opportunities in the halal industry, further promoting economic collaboration between Qatar and Russia.
