Qatar is steadily making progress in the tourism sector and is on track to achieve its goal of attracting 6 million visitors annually by 2030. Visit Qatar CEO Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi stated that the number of visitors in 2022 during the FIFA World Cup was around 2.4 million. However, in 2023, the number of visitors surpassed four million, and the first eight months of 2024 saw around three and a half million visitors. Al Mawlawi highlighted that Qatar will host many events and activities in the next four months, which will attract both regional and international visitors.

With the support of its leadership, Qatar has been focusing on boosting its tourism sector by establishing a solid infrastructure to attract visitors from around the world. Al Mawlawi mentioned that Hamad International Airport (HIA) is considered one of the best airports globally, connecting Doha to over 170 cities worldwide through Qatar Airways. The country offers various tourism attractions including public transportation, hotels, shopping complexes, cultural tourism, and world-class museums, catering to tourists at all levels.

Recognizing the significant impact of the tourism industry, Qatar recently unveiled its Third National Development Strategy for 2024-2030, which aims to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030. The strategy emphasizes the tourism sector as a crucial component in the country’s economic diversification efforts, essential for driving sustainable economic growth. Qatar’s strategic location at the crossroads of East and West makes it easily accessible, while its modern skyline, luxurious hotels, pristine beaches, and unique experiences appeal to visitors seeking a mix of relaxation and adventure.

As a family-friendly destination, Qatar offers a diverse range of activities, entertainment, and luxurious hospitality. The country prioritizes safety, boasting a high safety index ranking, state-of-the-art facilities, an award-winning national carrier and airport, efficient public transport, and visa policies that welcome tourists with open arms. With its commitment to developing the tourism sector and attracting more visitors, Qatar is poised to become a premier tourist destination in the coming years.
