Qatar introduces a stimulus package of 9 billion Qatari riyals for AI

The Qatar Economic Forum (QEF) kicked off in Doha with an opening speech by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. The event, which is powered by Bloomberg, aims to address the theme of “A World Remade: Navigating the Year of Uncertainty” and brings together over 1000 business leaders from around the world. In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted Qatar’s commitment to a comprehensive digital transformation and announced an incentive package worth QR 9 billion to invest in technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence.

One of the key announcements made during the opening speech was the launch of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Project, which focuses on high-quality Arabic language data. This project aims to enrich Arab models and preserve the Arab identity. The Prime Minister also emphasized Qatar’s plans to expand its investments in emerging markets while creating opportunities for the private sector in the local market. This demonstrates Qatar’s continued commitment to economic growth and development.

The Qatar Economic Forum will take place from May 14 to 16 at the Katara Towers: Fairmont Doha and Raffles Doha hotels. The discussions at the forum will cover a wide range of key topics, including political geography, globalization and trade, energy transition, technological innovation, business and investment projections, sports, and entertainment. This diverse agenda reflects the forum’s goal of providing valuable insights and perspectives on navigating the challenges of the current global landscape.
