The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) recently released statistics on the telecommunications indicators in Makkah and the holy sites on Arafat day. According to the data, there were a total of 42.2 million voice calls made, including 36.3 million local calls and 5.9 million international calls, with a success rate of 99%. Additionally, the total data consumption reached 5.61 thousand TB, which is equivalent to watching 2.3 million hours of 1080p HD video clips. The daily average data consumption per person was recorded at 761.93 MB, surpassing the global average of 380 MB per person.

In terms of mobile internet speeds, the average download speed was 386.66 Mbit/s, while the average upload speed was 48.79 Mbit/s. These high-speed internet connections are made possible by the ICT sector’s commitment to meeting the high consumption demand with the highest quality standards. This aligns with the leadership’s aspirations by providing pilgrims with smooth and reliable internet connections to facilitate local and international calls during the Hajj season.

The ICT sector’s technical preparations and skilled personnel play a crucial role in ensuring that pilgrims have a seamless Hajj experience. The high download speeds and reliable internet connections allow pilgrims to stay connected with their loved ones back home and access important information during their pilgrimage. The success rate of 99% in voice calls indicates the efficiency and effectiveness of the telecommunications infrastructure in Makkah and the holy sites on Arafat day.

The impressive statistics released by the CST reflect the significant advancements in telecommunications technology and infrastructure in the region. The ability to handle such high volumes of voice calls and data consumption demonstrates the sector’s commitment to meeting the needs of pilgrims and visitors during the Hajj season. These advancements not only benefit the pilgrims but also contribute to enhancing the overall experience of the Hajj pilgrimage.

Overall, the telecommunications indicators in Makkah and the holy sites on Arafat day highlight the sector’s continuous efforts to improve and expand its services to meet the growing demands of pilgrims and visitors. With high-speed internet connections, reliable voice calls, and efficient data consumption, the ICT sector plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and seamless Hajj experience for all. The success of the telecommunications infrastructure in Makkah is a testament to the sector’s dedication to providing top-quality services in line with the leadership’s vision for a modern and technologically advanced society.
