The Sultanate of Oman is currently participating in the UNESCO Digital Learning Week conference in Paris, focusing on the theme “Directing Technology in Education”. The Ministry of Education is represented by a delegation headed by Majid Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs. This annual event serves as a platform for education leaders, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to exchange ideas and enhance cooperation in the field of digital learning and education transformation.

The goal of the event is to promote the digital transformation of education, ensuring the ethical use of artificial intelligence and its benefits in learning assessment. It aims to build educational systems that integrate digital and green transformations, empower students, raise awareness of AI technologies, provide guidance and support for teachers using AI, and help students acquire AI competencies as part of digital citizenship education. The conference provides an opportunity for countries like Oman to showcase their experiences and initiatives in utilizing AI in school education.

Oman’s delegation presented a scientific paper at the conference, highlighting the Ministry of Education’s efforts in integrating AI into the education system. They also engaged with UNESCO officials and experts to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and collaboration between the two entities. The focus on artificial intelligence in education reflects the growing importance of technology in shaping the future of learning and teaching practices.

By participating in events like the UNESCO Digital Learning Week, Oman demonstrates its commitment to embracing digital technologies in education and enhancing learning outcomes through innovative approaches. The conference serves as a platform for sharing best practices, exchanging ideas, and fostering partnerships to accelerate the digital transformation of educational systems globally. Oman’s active involvement in such initiatives highlights its dedication to providing quality education and preparing students for the challenges of the digital age.

Overall, the presence of Oman’s delegation at the UNESCO Digital Learning Week underscores the country’s proactive stance on leveraging technology for educational advancement. By sharing its experiences and insights with international experts, Oman aims to contribute to the global dialogue on education transformation and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in learning environments. This participation reflects the Sultanate’s commitment to embracing innovation and digital technologies to enhance the quality and relevance of education for its citizens.
