The Strategic Thinking Bloc in the parliament has submitted a proposal urging the government to accelerate the implementation of the “Bahraini Skipper” law and launch training programmes to ensure its proper execution. The proposal aims to create more opportunities for citizens in the field of fishing, where they face no competition. Fishing is a vital source of income for many Bahraini families, and the lawmakers emphasise that the implementation of the “Bahraini Skipper” law will contribute to the preservation and protection of marine resources and reduce harmful environmental practices.

The proposal calls for the launch of training programmes alongside the law’s implementation to ensure its execution according to best practices. It stresses the importance of the law, which mandates the presence of a Bahraini skipper on board commercial fishing vessels. The law is seen as a way to protect marine resources, as Bahraini skippers are more likely to prioritize their preservation. Additionally, the law will create job opportunities for Bahraini citizens in a field where they face no competition, providing a source of income for many families reliant on the sea.

The proposal emphasizes the importance of cooperation between the legislative and executive branches in matters that benefit the nation and its citizens, particularly in protecting marine resources. It highlights the need for practical implementation of laws to ensure their effectiveness. The proposal comes as the ban on shrimp fishing ended, indicating a timely opportunity for the government to focus on the implementation of the “Bahraini Skipper” law and the training programs associated with it.

By implementing the “Bahraini Skipper” law and launching training programs, the government can not only create more opportunities for Bahraini citizens in the fishing industry but also contribute to the preservation and protection of marine resources. The law is seen as a way to reduce harmful environmental practices and provide a source of income for families reliant on fishing. Cooperation between the legislative and executive branches is essential to ensure the practical implementation of laws that benefit the nation and its citizens, particularly in protecting marine resources.

Overall, the proposal submitted by the Strategic Thinking Bloc aims to prioritize the implementation of the “Bahraini Skipper” law and the associated training programs to benefit Bahraini citizens and preserve marine resources. By focusing on cooperation between the government branches and practical implementation of laws, the proposal advocates for a sustainable and productive fishing industry in Bahrain. The end of the shrimp fishing ban presents a timely opportunity for the government to act on this proposal and support the livelihoods of Bahraini families dependent on fishing.
