The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the Insurance Authority, has introduced a new insurance scheme called the “Insurance Product” to safeguard the rights of expatriate workers in Saudi Arabia. This scheme, which went into effect on October 6, aims to alleviate the financial burden on workers in case their employers default on wage payments. The Insurance Product will cover the dues of expatriate workers employed in private sector establishments if their employers fail to fulfill their financial obligations. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the labor market in the Kingdom by establishing policies and legislation that protect the rights of both workers and employers while promoting a more efficient and attractive labor market on a global scale.

Implemented through insurance companies in Saudi Arabia, the Insurance Product will provide coverage for expatriate workers’ dues in the event of payment defaults by their employers. The insurance document will outline the terms and benefits covered by the scheme, including provisions such as a travel ticket for expatriate workers who wish to return to their home country upon final exit. This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s goal of developing the labor market and strengthening the contractual relationship between workers and employers. By ensuring that workers are protected against non-payment of wages, the Insurance Product aims to increase confidence in the Saudi labor market and attract skilled workers from around the world.

The launch of the Insurance Product is part of the broader regulatory framework established by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development to safeguard the rights of workers and employers in Saudi Arabia. This includes laws such as the Wage Protection Law and regulations requiring the documentation of employment contracts to protect the interests of both parties. The Ministry has also released a comprehensive guide detailing all the procedures related to the Insurance Product, which can be accessed on the ministry’s website. By providing clear guidelines and support for both workers and employers, the Ministry aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the labor market while promoting a fair and equitable working environment for all.

Overall, the introduction of the Insurance Product represents a significant step forward in ensuring the welfare and protection of expatriate workers in Saudi Arabia. By offering financial coverage in case of wage defaults, this scheme provides peace of mind for workers and strengthens their confidence in the Kingdom’s labor market. Additionally, the Insurance Product contributes to the overall development of the labor market by establishing a more secure and attractive environment for both workers and employers. As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance labor market policies and legislation, the Insurance Product demonstrates the government’s commitment to promoting a fair and efficient working environment for expatriate workers in Saudi Arabia.
