The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) in Doha, Qatar is taking steps to ensure the best quality in the cyber security sector by licensing service providers. Eng Jassim Al Muftah, Director of the Cyber Assurance Department at NCSA, mentioned that the agency has been holding meetings with relevant authorities and industry players to work towards this goal. They aim to make it mandatory for private companies to get accredited through their programme to guarantee high quality, accuracy, and reliability in the services provided. This move follows Amir Decree No 1 of 2021, which outlined standards and controls for licenses given to cyber security service providers.

In order to inform cyber security companies about their vision and roadmap for cyber security supply chain governance, NCSA recently held a meeting with industry executives. Al Muftah highlighted the agency’s goal of linking accredited institutions and companies to provide top-notch cyber security services. The accreditation process, along with the standards, can be found on the official website of NCSA under the National Information Security Compliance Framework (NISCF) Accreditation and Certification. The agency is focused on ensuring that the services provided in the field of cyber security adhere to the highest internationally recognized standards.

As technology continues to evolve, NCSA is constantly updating their standards to stay current with emerging trends. This year, they introduced a new accreditation service called Penetration Testing Accreditation to further enhance their offerings. Al Muftah emphasized that the agency is dedicated to developing these standards and programs to ensure cyber security excellence. The National Cyber Security Agency was established to consolidate government efforts in maintaining cyber security in the country and strengthen its capabilities to protect against growing cyber threats.

The NCSA aims to integrate government and private sector efforts to address potential cyber threats that could impact the country’s information infrastructure, which is essential to its economy. By collaborating with various entities, the agency is working towards enhancing cyber security initiatives and ensuring the safety of the state. Their focus on licensing cyber security service providers and mandating accreditation for private companies demonstrates their commitment to raising industry standards and providing top-quality services in the cyber security sector. As cyber threats continue to evolve, NCSA’s proactive approach and emphasis on accreditation are vital steps to safeguarding Qatar’s digital landscape.
